Warren Dewsnup Richins
Warren Dewsnup Richins passed away on August 19, 2011 at the age of 91. Warren was born in Gridley, California to Arthur & Laura Dewsnup Richins, on August 4, 1920. He was the eighth of 11 children and was born on Richins Avenue, across the street from where he resided for nearly 50 years.He joined the Marine Corp in 1941 and served with the 4th Defense Battalion, 1st Marine Division, in the South Pacific for 4 years. He met his wife, Eileen, a Navy WAVE, upon his return to the states. They were married in 1945 at the Farragut Idaho Naval Training Station and after being honorably discharged returned to Gridley where they raised four children.
Warren farmed for a few years with his brothers and then was hired by the City of Gridley to work in the Electric Department. He retired as the Utilities Supervisor after 28 years of service. Warren was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the VFW, the Golden Peaches Square Dance Club & the Moose Lodge.
Warren loved to hunt and fish and spent many summers searching for Indian artifacts in the Nevada desert with his wife’s family.After his retirement, Warren has become a passionate gardener and provided friends and family with corn, tomatoes. butternut squash and nuts. He also raised cows, sheep and pigs. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed his retirement. He was always there for them and taught them the importance of hard work and family values.
Warren and Eileen traveled around the country with her sister and brother-brother at a campsite and also enjoyed traveling to Marine Corp reunion. Warren loved his family and was kind and attentive. One of the most honorable men you might encounter, his word was his bond. He never met a stranger & loved to entertain folks around his kitchen table.
Warren is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eileen Arechabala Richins, His children, Kathleen (Gary) Mitchell of San Jose, California, Norman (Marilyn) Richins of Redding, California, Rosemary (David) Kelly of Chico, his grandchildren Matt (Tammie) Mitchell, Heidi (Ed) Angerstein, Bill (Tammy) Moran, Casey Moran, Nikki (Juston) Smith, Abigail, Christopher Jade and James Kelly, and great grandchildren, Josh, Megan, Kennedy, Austin, Sam, Cole, Ava, Jordan, Belle, Luke, Levi, Baylor, and Sawyer, his brothers, Harold, A.D. and Melvin Richins. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Richins and his siblings, Raymond, Milton, Verland, Melva, Ralph, George, and Louis.

Press Release: Public Safety Advisory - Megan's Law Notification
On June 1st, 2011, between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., the San Jose Police Department, as authorized by the State of California and pursuant to Penal Code Section 290 & 290.45, will make a public notification of a Registered Sex Offender who may pose a risk to the community. The notification will take place in the Payne & San Tomas Expressway area of West San Jose. Detectives from the San Jose Police Department's Megans Law Team will walk door-to-door and distribute flyers to residents. Neighborhood associations and local schools will also be contacted. This subject is not currently wanted by law enforcement. The purpose of this notification is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders. The San Jose Police Department has no authority to dictate where this subject lives. The public will be directed to contact the San Jose Police Department or the Megan's Law website if they have any questions or concerns.
