Boston, New York e poco altro, in una division che, stando alle aspettative di inizio anno, avrebbe dovuto essere più accesa, con i brillanti Rays degli ultimi anni attesi alla conferma, anche dopo un’offseason di ricostruzione.

Invece la squadra della Florida si ritrova, ad inizio Settembre, a nove partite di distacco dalla testa della classifica e da un’eventuale Wild Card; è davvero difficile immaginare una loro rimonta da qui alla fine della stagione regolare. Come da pronostico, intorno a .500 Toronto e ormai staccatissima Baltimore.

La squadra del Massachusetts si mantiene in testa alla classifica, seppure tallonata da New York, a solamente mezza partita di distanza. Più di 135 partite non sono ancora sufficienti a garantire un margine, con le due rivali storiche autrici di un’ottima annata. Nemmeno le sei partite giocate ad agosto hanno dato indicazioni chiare ed univoche, con le squadre a spartirsi equamente le vittorie: 2 partite ad 1 per Boston ad inizio mese e 2-1 NY nella serie appena conclusa, subito dopo lo spauracchio dell’uragano Irene.

Problemi in infermeria per Boston, che vede Youkilis , uno dei trascinatori della squadra nella prima parte della stagione, fermo dal 17 agosto per un problema alla schiena e tutt’ora alle prese con la riabilitazione in AA, Hill fuori per tutta la stagione, e Buchholz che ha appena iniziato a tirare dopo la frattura da stress di giugno.

La squadra riesce a mantenere la leadership nelle statistiche offensive, con una linea di squadra di .280/.350/.459, tutti valori che guidano l’American League. Il dato è ancora più confortante per i tifosi di Boston se si considera che Adrian Gonzalez ha avuto in agosto il suo peggior mese dell’anno (nulla di disprezzabile, per carità, ma non all’altezza del resto dell’anno) e che Pedroia , nuovo leader sul campo dopo l’infortunio di Youkilis, ha tirato un po’ il fiato dopo due mesi incredibili, da MVP.

Every guitarist has that one special guitar that they wished they had back. It might be because it was a sentimental gift, maybe it was sold to pay the bills, or maybe you just didn't realize how much you loved that guitar until it was gone. These are the stories of the ones that got away. Most of them are my own stories, but send me your stories as well and they just might get published here. that I just recently got this amp...and now it's gone. I really liked this Rivera Hundred Duo Twelve a lot, but getting divorced sucks and I've been having to sell a few things to get moved into a new place. It's not the end of the world, but when you have worked hard to get a few nice instruments and some cool gear, it's not fun losing it for the wrong reasons. But, as Mike Franks of M. J. Franks guitars reminded me, "they're just things and things are not that important." So, the short story behind this amp is that many years ago I was in a band called the Deadlites. We recorded an album at a studio in San Diego called Double Time, a place where Blink 182 and Rocket From the Crypt and a ton of other well known San Diego bands have recorded. They actually had the 24-track tape deck that Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins and a lot of other bands that Butch Vig recorded used on some of the most famous records of all time. I guess none of that really made our album sound better, but it's a good story. In that studio they also had a Rivera Hundred Duo Twelve amp that we ended up using on a lot of the guitar parts, and I think I tracked my MandoGuitar through it as well. From that session on I wanted one of those amps. A couple of years ago I wandered into a pawn shop and saw one sitting there, where it sat for over two years with no buyers.
