Extra! Extra! Week 2 of the high school football notebook
Here is this week’s edition of it. Take a look at some of the items below that made it to print, along with a few extras.
SKID OVER: Shenandoah snapped a 29-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over Red Oak. The Mustangs’ last win before Friday was Oct. 26, 2007.
SWEET 16s: Third-ranked Iowa City Regina and No. 2 North Tama, Traer both extended winning streaks to 16 games. Regina snapped a 13-game winning streak for No. 6 Solon with a 35-9 victory over the Spartans. Traer bounced HLV, Victor 45-0.
GOLDEN: Â Â Dominic Brandt did it all for Clarion Goldfield during a 33-14 win against Humboldt. Brandt rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned an interception 39 yards for a score and blocked a punt.
PARK IT: Quarterback Colin Brons completed 20-of-27 passes for 395 yards and five touchdowns during Harris-Lake-Park’s 31-6 victory over Remsen St. Marys.
GOOD START: Andy Henry returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in No. 10 Linn-Mar’s 42-14 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
BURNT: Second-ranked Union’s Wes Burnside rushed for 273Â yards and four touchdowns during a 57-0 win over Independence.
HALL PASS: Austin Halls accounted for five touchdowns during Murray’s 76-24 win against Harmony. Halls rushed for 102 yards and four touchdowns on just six carries. The quarterback also completed 7-of-14 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
ZOOM-ZOOM: Montezuma had eight different players score nine touchdowns while tallying 409 yards of total offense during a 61-0 smashing of New London.
RUNNING WILD: Andrew McCune rushed for 213 yards and four touchdowns in top-ranked Woodward-Granger’s 33-0 win against West Central Valley.
ALL THE WAY: Eric Garcia returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown during Wapello’s 40-8 win against Columbus Junction.

Des Moines Christian quarterback Austin Stubbs passed for 178 and two touchdowns in a 32-0 win against Exira. Stubbs also had a 75-yard interception returned for a touchdown (Register photos). Here is this week's edition of it.
