Moe's to open second BN location
BLOOMINGTON -- The owners of Moe's Southwest Grill will open a second location in the Twin Cities, and anticipate opening that restaurant at 2401 E. Empire St. in Bloomington next April.
Kenneth Solem, who co-owns Moe's with Gary Sparks, said customers have been asking for a second outlet since they opened a location at 1730 Bradford Lane in Normal in 2008.
"They have been asking from the day we opened. People have asked when we were going to put one on the east side of Bloomington," said Solem.
The new Moe's Southwest Grill will lease one of four suites in a building to be constructed by Rogers-Franke Investments of Normal. Groundbreaking is scheduled for October.
When completed, the 3,290-square-foot Bloomington restaurant will have seating for 114 customers inside, and 32 in an outdoor patio. That is larger than the 2,400-square-foot Normal location which seats 68.
Moe's Southwest Grill serves southwest fare, including chips and salsa, burritos, Billy Barou nachos and salads. Entrees range from $2.50 to $9, with full meals averaging around $10, according to Solem.
The Atlanta-based chain has 420 restaurants in 32 states, and uses a "fast-casual" concept that features meals being prepared in front of customers.
