Michael Osborn

Michael H. Osborn, 53, of Wever died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at his home.

Born Sept. 29, 1957, in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of Joseph H. and Carmen M. Osborn. In 1982, he married Marjorie Caster in Denmark. They divorced.

Mr. Osborn worked as an advertising representative for the Hawk Eye in Burlington, advertising director at the Daily Democrat in Fort Madison and as an advertising representative for KTVO Television in Ottumwa. He also worked for Building Materials in Fort Madison and as a residential property appraiser for Osborn Appraisal Service.

He graduated from North Babylon High School in Long Island, N.Y., and earned a degree in marketing at University of Iowa.

He enjoyed biking, bowling, volleyball and softball and was an Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his father of North Babylon, N.Y.; two daughters, Jenny Osborn of Fort Madison and Amy McPherson of Burlington; two brothers, Charlie Osborn of Robins and Joseph Osborn Jr. of Plant City, Fla.; three grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; and special friend, Sandy Messenger of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ. The body has been cremated.

The memorial service for Mr. Osborn will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Chad Savage officiating.

A memorial has been established.
