My Favorite Baby Carriers

When I was pregnant with Wolf, I searched high and low to find the perfect baby carrier.  I’d heard from lots of parents that it just would depend on what the baby liked.  My good friend tried 5 different carriers with her daughter until she finally found the perfect one so I expected our baby carrier journey to be a challenge.

When Wolf was just a few days old, we decided to try out our first carrier.  We’d purchased the Moby wrap in black and after tying, wrapping and re-wrapping the fabric, we initially gave up.  He just seemed so small and I was terrified that he’d stop breathing.  I wore it around the house for about 10 minutes, constantly checking his neck to make sure it was aligned correctly and then finally decided to take it off.  So for those first few weeks we stuck to the bassinet on our stroller.  But I was determined to carry Wolf!

Now that he’s 3 months old, we’ve pretty much found what works for us and Wolf.

My favorite: The Ergo .

I love that Wolf can snuggle up against my chest and fall asleep, which he does most every time I put him in it.  It’s perfect for long walks because the weight is distributed evenly and he’s shaded for the most part from the sun.  I just make sure his little legs and feet are covered and we’re good to go!  We love taking Wolf on hikes and The Ergo is perfect for that!  The only downside to The Ergo is that he can’t face forward.  When Wolf is awake, he wants to look out.  I didn’t realize upon purchasing The Ergo that he wouldn’t be able to face forward and Wolf likes to see the world.  I’m sure once he gets bigger and his head actually peeks out from above the carrier, he’ll love it.  And I’m sure he’ll especially love when I can put him on my back!

The best for multi-tasking: The Moby or any fabric wrap.

Many, many MANY times during the day, Wolf just wants to hang with me so I’ve taken to putting him in the Moby while I’m working/eating/cleaning/etc. and he’s content for about 20-30 mins.  He’s able to face forward which is pretty cool because he can watch me work!  I think at his age right now, he’s so interested in what’s going on around him and just wants to explore.  Since he’s not mobile yet, exploration comes with hanging out with Mom and Dad.  The downside of the Moby is that it seems to take me forever to get the thing on.  I’m sure with more practice I’ll be a pro at whipping those 6 yards of fabric around me.  But for now it works.
