A great gift idea for a young child, especially those that like sports, is a basketball goal for toddlers. While there are many basketball hoops available , the best that I have run across is the Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set. Little Tikes has been around since 1970 [1] and is well known for producing durable, high quality, and fun children's toys.
It can seem with small kids that between birthdays for your children, birthdays for their friends, and holidays that all we do is buy presents. One of the best thing about the EasyScore Basketball Set is that it is an inexpensive way for your little one to have fun playing basketball for several years.
The Little Tikes EasyScore Basketball Set was given to my son for his first birthday. It was a hit from the beginning as my son has been a sports lover basically since birth. Fortunately, this basketball hoop was easily assembled, and as soon as the birthday party began to wind down we had this hoop up and ready to go. We set it to the lowest possible height and before long my son was taking the ball and hobbling to the hoop to slam dunk it. Before the basketball goal entered his life he only had a slight interest in walking, but the hoop gave him the encouragement that he needed.
He was able to do this since the minimum height of this basketball goal is 2 1/2 feet, plenty low enough for even the smallest basketball players. The ball that is included is also small enough for little hands to grad hold and flip the ball to the hoop. But as the hoopsters get older, better, or just need a bigger challenge, the goal can be raised to 4 feet tall.
The base of the EasyScore Basketball Set is very wide, and can be filled with water or sand. In fact, the manufacturer suggests that the base be filled with one or the other. However, for indoor use that can get messy, and we do not fill the base at all. So far, we have not had any trouble with this set up. If a child held onto the rim and pulled down I could see the goal tipping over, but it absolutely will not fall down from normal play.
