Friday Night Recaps: Week 2

Lassiter 42, Sprayberry 14: Host Lassiter sprinted to a 28-6 halftime lead after Robert Dowling opened the scoring with a 66-yard interception return for touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback Eddie Printz threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Willie Police caught four balls for 130 yards and touchdowns of 73 and 10 yards. The Trojans rolled up 423 total yards. Lambert 24, Chattahoochee 7: Defending their Class AAAA championship at home, the Cougars could never get their offense moving. Lambert opened the scoring on a 28-yard field goal by Tyler Covault. The Longhorns added a touchdown on a 40-yard run by Brock Maxwell, the son of Lambert head coach Sid Maxwell. Maxwell scored again in the second half when he recovered a ball in his end zone. Will Johnson then took a pass in the flats and went 80 yards to get his team within 10. Luella 27, Eagle’s Landing 14: Luella and Eagles Landing took a 14-14 score entering the fourth before Luella pulled away in the fourth. Eagles Landing recovered a fumble for a score and got an eight-yard run for a score from Tyler Teknipp, who was 10-25 passing for 126 yards for the home team. Luella’s Jared Hendricks threw two second half touchdowns. ELCA 23, Henry County 14: John Tatum rushed for 225 yards on 16 carries for the host Chargers while quarterback Aaron Spratlin threw only five times but completed four of them, including one touchdown. Scott Barlow caught the 25-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to break a 14-14 tie. Kicker Cole Dellinger closed out the scoring with a 23-yard field goal. Miller Grove 12, Dunwoody 7: Dunwoody scored first in its matchup with the visiting Miller Grove Wolverines. Quarterback Joseph Farrar sneaked into the endzone for an early 7-0 score. Miller Grove would respond with six before the intermission and would add six more in the second half to win. Chris Stark 36-yard TD reception in fourth DeVonte Parks 70-yard PR to set up a one-yard touchdown.

Here are some examples of work from Joseph Gough , a recent University of Brighton graduate. I love the mixture of different marks he uses in his brush and ink work. We have a look at some illustrations from his project on ‘Lord of the Flies’ while he talks in depth about self-analysis, understanding his own style, and life after graduation.

Maybe this goes toward explaining why my work can often be a little dark in nature, which I had to be told before I was even aware of it because it was just normal to me. I could be working on Hallmark greetings cards or something and something a little bit sinister could work its way in there and I wouldn’t even realise! I don’t know, I can’t help it I guess. A lot of my work is often sparse in colour or has no colour at all and that’s the way I like it at the moment, I guess when I feel I’ve got black and white down, I’ll try colour. Whatever area I’m looking at, I’ll start to build up a visual vocabulary and try to fully flesh out that world until it becomes something.
