What I saw at Sharks camp: Thornton and Burns could be lethal together
....-First, some quick highlights of my time on Day 1 of camp sharks, and in fact I was only there to drive the B group and interview sessions with the coach Todd Wilson McLellan.
(Group A-Couture, Clowe, Boyle and others, previously worked.)
The most striking of Group B, other than the one with Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski, is the predominance of massive but agile defenseman Brent Burns.
And today, the thing even more striking is how much time Burns was skating along the top line, not with his partner Marc alleged Edward Island, Vlasic, however, because Vlasic was sick at home.
Just look at Burns, flicking the puck back and forth with tiny Thornton-Guy does is it obvious that the Sharks aim here:
Burns-digging the puck, sending it up the ice in Thornton, Burns, and end the game, and you have two sets of pterodactyls making hard to come and opposing goalkeeper with Marleau and Pavelski fill gaps.
This plan should be.
"The fact that they were aligned with this great line," said McLellan, referring to Burns and Vlasic, "there was a thought put into it."
It will probably be either Burns or Dan Boyle Vlasic-Douglas-Murray get most of the time with the top line, probably depending on the D-pairing has the best rate going.
This group could be particularly dangerous on the power play, which the Sharks have worked on a lot today, as noted McLellan.
* The theme of this camp is competition, which is the theme of each team, each year, but maybe this time it's true for the Sharks.
Competition, Wilson suggested, could move all the way to the couture-Clowe seconds pushing the line of Thornton for the time in the key moments of the game and start the power play.
Of course, the time of Boyle-Murray as the No. 1 D-pair (and spot Boyle about the Unit 1 power play) will be immediately challenged by Burns, Vlasic. * Thornton was positively rhapsodic talking about the vibe of playing in San Jose, “this gem,” as he calls it, and not shocked that Burns signed a five-year extension very quickly after taking a look at the environs.

Prologue: It's about Teamwork « UOBusiness Blogs – Oregon MBA ...
The first week of Prologue had it all. From a tutorial on the business case, a workshop for networking, community building trail at Mount Pisgah Arboretum, we had a lively and attractive introduction to the MBA from Oregon. The week finally ended on a high note, as we spent Friday McKenzie river rafting, a real introduction to the natural beauty and outdoor opportunities in Oregon for our incoming class. Activities continued this weekend as many of us attended the second home football game for the Ducks, a decisive 56-7 victory over Missouri State.
It’s hard to believe that a week ago I was looking forward to starting Prologue and nervous about meeting my cohort. Reflecting on the past week, I am impressed and inspired by my fellow students, and I can’t wait to get to know them more during our second week of Prologue.
A little about me: I’m a Eugene, Oregon, native, although I attended Pomona College in Claremont, California, and worked at an accounting firm in Los Angeles before returning to Eugene to pursue the Oregon MBA and enjoy the rainy weather. In Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, I hope to gain skills and experience that will help me transition to a career in event management or marketing.
In the first week of the prologue, I can say that learning to work effectively as a team will be a cornerstone of the MBA experience in Oregon. We received our assignments for our team case presentations next week and will continue to work in groups during the first term of classes.Understand how to perform well in a team will undoubtedly help us in our future careers, though I can say that we will put those skills to use in the short term in the form of frequent pickup softball, football, basketball and games. Experiential learning? Here we come.
