Mrs. Jennings sews every day — except when her Chicago Bears son is playing ball

How many pairs of pants does she hem or let out in a year? Geneve Jennings-Addison, local tailor, estimates 300 to 500 pairs. Also, a hundred or so coats, all for men, and more than 200 dresses and suits for women. Parents bring their children's clothes for alterations, too.

Her shop, Creative Fashions, located on the opposite corner from the old Eutaw Hotel in Orangeburg, includes all the machines and devices tailors often have hanging on their walls. There are nearly 1,000 very big spools of colored thread and, right below them, another 1,000 smaller spools hang on big nails. Name any color, such as "robins egg blue," and it's there.

The shop is situated in a long, narrow room filled with four sewing machines on the right and a long row of newly tailored clothes (suits and dresses) hanging on the left. Incidentally, two of the machines sew regular stitches, one hems and the fourth "serges" (trims). Geneve does nearly all the work herself, with one assistant coming in when needed.

n Shirts and more shirts

While Geneve was in high school in Branchville, she took up sewing as a hobby. Her mother and three sisters sewed very little. An elderly lady in the neighborhood taught her the art on her machine. By age 18, Geneve became proficient enough for a job at a men's and boy's shirt factory in Branchville and at another factory in Smoaks. Then came the real career. Beginning in 1970 and lasting until retirement in 1998, she sewed in the Ambler plant in Orangeburg. The plant produced thousands upon thousands of young boys' Sunday school suits.

Geneve first married in 1967 to James Jennings of Cope; they had one daughter and two sons. Son James is a cable worker in Atlanta, Ga.; daughter Genell is an accountant in Chicago, and son Tim began playing professional football with the Chicago Bears years ago.

Never married, Tim lives in a high-rise in Chicago, and buckles down to hour upon hour upon hour of practice every week. His first football was at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, where he compiled an outstanding record. Then he received a four-year scholarship at the University of Georgia, followed by a contract with the Indianapolis Colts. After three years playing there, he got an offer from the Chicago Bears, where he still sweats just as hard as ever. Off season, April through June, often finds Tim in Orangeburg visiting his family.

Answer by Digital_shubhi I think that a lot of retailers used to believe that their demographic was older women, and maybe it was. Change has been slower to happen than I’d like, but believe me, there are plenty of places out there that sell really cute, fashionable plus size clothes. You will find a lot of the best stores online as opposed to retail but here are a few options for both:

Has retail stores: The 1930’s are now OLD ?? That is when they were making MOVIES of the old west !!

Seriously, they wouldn’t look TOO far out of place today. A girl on a ranch in California would wear dungarees (jeans) and a shirt… boots or shoes… perhaps a hat to control her hair and shade her face.

At least that’s what my Mom was wearing in 1934 in several of her pictures.

By reading we enrich the mind, by conversation we polish it. Your mind is like this water, my friend, when it is agitated, it becomes difficult to see, but if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear..Save water. Shower with your girlfriend. 。OK!good!
