Ex-lawmaker pleads guilty to drunk driving
A former Ohio legislator pled guilty Thursday to drunk driving.
Former state representative Robert Mecklenborg, 59, appeared in a Dearborn County courtroom and was given 363 days of probation, a $365 fine and had his license suspended for 90 days.
The Cincinnati-area Republican was arrested April 23 in Lawrenceburg by an Indiana state trooper. Court and arrest records show he failed several sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.097 percent. The level considered drunken driving in Indiana is 0.08.
The third-term lawmaker, who represented the 30th House District in southwest Ohio, resigned Aug. 2.

My main objective was to ensure that my children have the ability to grow up spending equal time with both parents. I stood up against a crooked custody evaluator and was punished for it. I lost all parenting time with my 3 and 5 year old girls. No accusations of abuse, no adultery, no drug or alcohol abuse, no social services, no police reports. Judge James Humphrey waited 2.5 months after the final hearing to terminate my parenting time. Prior to August 18, 2009, I cared for the girls nearly half of the time and they had never been away from their dad for more than 4 days. Now I have no contact.
