Bank announces results of gingerbread challenge
Fremont National Bank and Trust Co. has announced the results of the Hometown Gingerbread Challenge, a local gingerbread house contest that raises funds for nonprofit organizations.
Twenty-nine entries were displayed during the MainStreet of Fremont Christmas Walk on Nov. 25. During the display, visitors placed monetary votes to decide the People's Choice winners.
The donations at the event plus matching funds from Fremont National totaled $1,306. The funds will benefit 20 organizations.
Jennifer Mitzelfelt's entry that benefited First United Methodist Church Youth Group won the Peoples' Choice adult award.
The Peoples' Choice youth award went to Silvia Woods, who designed the highest-earning entry with $102.74 in monetary votes, plus a $100 bank match to benefit Fremont Area Royal Family Kids Camp.
Two awards went to the most beautiful entries.
The winner of the Judge's Choice adult award was Jeanne Boesch, whose entry raised funds for Fremont Area Right to Life. The Judge's Choice youth award was won by teens from the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children, who designated the monetary votes from their entry to benefit the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children.
Fremont National Bank matched donations up to $100 for every nonprofit organization.
Other organizations that had entries included Archbishop Bergan Catholic Preschool, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boy Scout Troop 110, Care Corps, City Slickers 4-H Club, Clarmar Student Council, Dodge County Humane Society, Fremont Alliance Church, Fremont High School Band, Grant Elementary K-Kids, Habitat for Humanity, Jobs Daughters, Milliken Park Student Council, Rupert Dunklau Center for Healthy Families Lutheran Family Services, Salvation Army and St. Patrick's Church.
